Question: May I ask how you manage your family’s meals with all of your meals? That is my biggest struggle...
My Answer: Since we have 6 people in the house, our schedules don’t always align. We have soccer practice, online classes, and other activities that make it tricky to sit down and enjoy a meal together every single evening. Most nights, we utilize bulk meal prep and then grab pieces to create faster individual meals. So I'll prep chickpea pasta, sauteed zucchini, ground turkey, and marinara sauce on one day during the week, all in different large meal prep containers like these, and then we can customize our meals each day without starting from scratch. This allows everyone to pick what they want, and have more control over their food. We’ve worked with our older kids (Jordan, 15, and Savannah, 13) to be very capable of cooking for themselves, and Hunter, 10, loves to cook as well.
Question: Help. I have not lost any weight. What am I doing wrong?
My Answer: There are a ton of reasons why you may be struggling to lose weight when you feel you’re doing everything right. I actually created a video on this exact topic because it’s so common - you can watch it here. The top 4 culprits I look to are the following:
- Sleep, Stress, and Recovery: You might be taxing your body too much and not allowing it to rest and recover, either through too much exercise or lifestyle stress. Bodies don't like to let go of extra weight when they’re stressed. I share more about stress here.
- Nutrition: It’s possible you’re not eating the correct amounts your body needs. It’s important to pay attention to the quality of the food you’re eating as well as the macronutrient breakdown. I discuss more about this in my video here.
- Fitness and Daily Movement: It could be you’re not getting enough energy to compensate for the food you’re eating. I recommend starting a strength training routine and getting daily steps—I share how to get started in this video.
- Consistency and Patience: It can be so easy to give up one strategy and try a new one every time it doesn’t feel like it’s working. However, your goal of losing weight requires consistency in performing the same positive actions over and over to be a success and the patience to allow it time to work.
Question: What is your favorite Greek yogurt?
My Answer: I prefer Fage Total Greek 5% Whole Milk Plain. It has a great texture and taste, and the ingredients are very simple.
Question: How much protein powder do you use for your smoothies and milk amount?
My Answer: I always start with 1 cup of liquid, usually unsweetened almond milk for an individual smoothie serving. I almost always just add 1 scoop of Cleanish plant-based protein for 1 serving, which adds 20 grams of high-quality protein to the smoothie and makes it taste great, too.

Some of my favorite things this week 🙂
- Quote of the Week → “Success isn't always about greatness. It's about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come.” – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
- I Finally Tried a CREAMi! → Y’all this machine is magical. We’ve used it so many times already, and it feels like we’re just getting started. It literally turns frozen fruit into a creamy, smooth sorbet, which I’ve done like this Mango Sorbet recipe and it’s great, but it doesn’t stay smooth once you freeze it. It also makes a great ice cream texture, and allows for so many customizations. This is the one I bought, and it’s currently on sale for $50 off!
- Travel Toiletry Bottle Pack → Every time I travel, I hate that I can’t bring my regular toiletries because they’re larger than 3oz. This trip, I finally decided to buy a travel pack, and I’m so glad I did. It holds my facial cleanser, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, and it even comes with labels. Plus: it was less than $10. Buy it here.
