Hi, Cleanish Squad!
Listen to the email here (Listen while you read!)
Happy Monday! As you gear up for the week ahead, I wanted to send you 5 pieces of advice I have learned along my weight loss journey. My hope is that they will inspire you to take action this week to make progress towards your goals.
Lesson 1: Be consistent with actions aligned with your goals. The more choices and behaviors you can make that line up with your goal, the more likely you will hit your goal. Become the person who consistently makes the choices that lead to success. Apply this concept to habits such as getting in daily steps, removing added sugars, or starting a workout routine.
Lesson 2: Acknowledge the process of change. Big, meaningful change will take time, and that’s ok. It took us a long time to get to this point, so it will take a long time (luckily, less even!) to reverse it. Understand this is a process, and will require patience and consistency. Remember the end goal is worth it, and stay true to your goals.
Lesson 3: Keep it simple. Don’t make the mistake I made of doing complicated crash diets you just can’t sustain. Focus on the basics of weight loss (i.e. healthy food, daily movement, and rest/recovery) and avoid complicated crash diets and trending quick fixes. Chasing miracle cures will only end in disappointment and pain.
Lesson 4: Struggle and failure are inevitable, but not forever. Sometimes, you make choices that don’t align with your goals, and that’s normal. Beating yourself up will lead to more self-sabotage. You have to be strong. If you miss a workout or eat something you wish you hadn’t, the best thing you can do is to learn from it and move on. Focus on the best next step you can take to get back on track.
Lesson 5: Just do it. Whether it’s your first time or ninth time to go on a weight loss plan, you just need to get started. Choosing not to get started will never get you the change you’re looking for. You’re in charge of each and every action you take, so make the decision to get started.
As you start your week, focus on setting yourself up for success by making a plan and sticking to it. Stay focused, put in the work, and you’ll be that much closer to accomplishing your goals.
You got this!
